PHOTOS FOR BEST RESULTS
The quality, detail and realism of your pet's portrait will be greatly determined by the quality of the photos you provide. I can accept color prints or digital files. If slides are given, there will be a per slide charge for scanning to digital format.

Choose a detailed photo that shows how you want your pet posed for the painting. You can include other images that show character details you want included in the painting. Keep in mind that accurate detail in the finished portrait depends on the photo you send. The eyes are very important to convey the character of your pet. They bring personality and realism to the painting. The photos you provide should show their eyes clearly with accurate color.

Photos taken outside with natural lighting are best. Be sure that your dog's face in not in a shadow. If necessary, use a flash to fill in the face. Keep in mind that lighting is what will make your dog come alive. Good highlight and shadow will create the best result

Get down to your dogs eye level to avoid distortion. An interesting background, while helpful, is not critical. I can put in a portrature background, grass & trees, a lake or other request. Also, please send any notes and comments that will help me understand your pet’s unique personality. I wish I could meet every dog I paint, so include their names. All photos submitted will be handled with care and returned with the finished portrait.

A photo shoot can be arranged. Just give me a call or e-mail and we can discuss prices and schedule.
